Understanding the brain with AI

neurons X nets project

the brain is a master piece of nature. It enables us to collect the impulses from outside and inside of our body, to evaluate, think, imagine and be aware.

Data creation

brain activity made visible

At Harvard Medical School, the brain is filmed with a special 2 photon microscope from Bruker. The flashing activity of the neurons is made visible. In the video you can see the flashing lights of neuron activity.

Research

The top layer in the video shows how neuronal signals are received when incoming from the eyes. The first goal of our research is, to understand, how the activity patterns of the top layer are propagating into the deeper layer of the brain tissue.

Machine Learning

We use machine learning to analyse the patterns in the top layer and correlate them with patterns in the deeper layer. This way the language between the two different entities shall be assessed.

Time Series Analysis

Each flashing point in the video is a single neuron. The flashes of light are transformed into a time series of electrical output intensity.

Wave form analysis

The resulting time series signal is a wave form, just like an audio signal or an electrical current. At ProMetronics, we analyse this signal with the wave form analyis module of the ProMetronics AI-Analysis platform.
